This is an excerpt of the original post. You can read the full post here.
As I mentioned sometime before, I'm going through a period of burnout recovery. In an effort to understand my burnout and go back to working in a way that I don't kill my creativity again, I decided to try and go back to my roots, study, and try out new things. One of these things was to take part in a redraw collab!
I drew what I wanted to draw: decrepit rocks as building blocks of variable sizes, with skulls hidden in between. I didn't plan at first for the twisted and broken bars, but as I tried to fill all the space with my pixels I felt the need for some more intense variation. What if there were unspeakable creatures in this dungeon that managed to break free? Did they spawn the fleamen there? Are the skeletons remains of the captured creatures or the remains of their prey? There is blood on the cage, did those creatures tore themselves apart to flee?
Something I tried to do so as to save some time and my wrists was to select parts that looked good, copy and paste, then flip or rotate them, maybe resize, and then draw the necessary adjustments such as fixing the shadows or the highlights, merging or separating rocks, adding more debris at their bases, things like that, so as to give the impression that everything is unique. Here are the some of parts that were reused:
How long did I take to finish this screen? Around 20-25 hours.
Let me know what you think of it! And thanks for sticking until the end of this post.

Hello everyone!
As you know, I'm maruki, a professional pixel artist, illustrator and animator.
As it happens, payment from one of the projects I'm in will be very delayed this month, so I'm opening commission slots to make up for it. I work doing art for games, short looping music videos and twitch icons and panels.
You can send me a DM here or reach me at maruki [@] lostalloy.com
You can see my work in my gallery, but here's a bit of it:
On a side note, I've opened up two new tiers on my Aftertile patreon campaing. In one of them, you'll be able to include your pet in the game, and in the other, you'll be able to design a house, shack, garage, etc.
Finally, I've taken up streaming again, and while I won't be interacting 100% of the time, you'll be able to see me working. I plan to stream all business days.
Thank you for reading.

Hello, friends!
Aftertile is my passion project.
It is a comfy action-adventure game with ghosts about softness, hugs and companionship.
I have also created a band for the game and made real-world releases for them. You can listen to their discography at https://softhugs.bandcamp.com and at their youtube channel.
I am not working on it full-time, but one day I hope to! I have a patreon where you can support me:
The community here has been very receptive with all the pieces I have posted from the game, so I hope to keep updating my profile with art from it, besides my personal pieces.
Thank you.

Today my team and I are releasing Soft Hugs's second EP, called nukumori.
"Nukumori" means warmth in Japanese. Soft Hugs hopes to bring you warmth with the soothing lofi songs of this album, as if you were drinking a herbal tea, having a delicious soup or taking a nap under warm covers with a delightful company.
All three tracks are up on youtube, with cute chill animated loops, so you can enjoy the sounds with soothing visuals:

Hi everyone,
I've been developing Aftertile for a year and a half, and I realized that I haven't officially talked about it here! So I'd like to introduce it to you all:
Aftertile is a floatvania game about a cute little ghost traveling a huge maze and using his ghastly powers to make friends and help other ghosts. It will feature cute characters, ethereal relationships and Buddhist vibe. It's called floatvania because it's built around basic metroidvania concepts but includes floating around and going through walls instead of walking and jumping.
So far we've released two videos of the game: a teaser and an MV. You can watch them both here on NG or on youtube (below):
If you are interested in knowing about the development process, from a design point of view, you can check out our devlogs here: http://www.indiedb.com/games/aftertile
I post frequently on twitter about it. I've also keep a patreon for those fans who like to see process gifs, timelapses and receive production character design skeches at home.
Thanks for reading!
